Quite often new businesses and their owners spend too much time trying to “figure it out”, whether that “it” is accounting/bookkeepping, legal/incorpoeration, cash flow/banking, sales tracking or marketing items. Not everyone is great at every aspect of running a new business and that is where the Kickstart program comes in.
Enterprise Saint John is running their Kickstart program again this year with 13 new entreprenuers and 13 advisor/mentors. This program is designed to support a small group of local entrepreneurs as they kickstart their idea or business into a successful launch. The entrepreneurs will meet biweekly for six months the meetings having various components including: a guest speaker, group discussion, business updates and a learning component. Participants will also be supported by the group of advisors who will be available to offer advice and encouragement.
I am proud to have been asked to be the advisor/mentor for sales and sales processes this year. When I first met the 13 participating entrepreneurs I was impressed with the passion each brought to their new business and their desire to learn as much as they could from each of the advisors in the program. I am looking forward to watching these 13 people start and grow their new businesses in to successful and sustainable operations over the next tear and more. With programs like Kickstart the future of small business in Saint John and Atlantic Canada looks very promising!
