Your most valuable resource is your team—shouldn’t you be investing in their comfort?
Research shows that when people are comfortable at work they are more productive and more satisfied. With all of the ergonomic accessories available, it has never been easier to equip your team for success. From various sit and stand options, to desk accessories, and lighting, there is no shortage of ergonomic accessories for your employees.
Sit/Stand Work Options
Research has shown that no matter how high the ergonomic quality of a chair, remaining seated for long periods of time can have a negative effect on health. What many people don’t realize is that maintaining a standing position for long periods of time is only moderately better. Current research shows that periodically alternating between seated and standing positions is the answer. While some studies disagree on the ideal frequency, a good rule of thumb would be to change positions at least hourly.
In order to minimize productivity loss when changing position, workstations should include equipment that is quick and easy to adjust between heights, requiring minimal physical effort or mental distraction. The Quickstand and Quickstand Lite are two robust Sit/Stand solutions. They can both be added to an existing desk or work surface and can be raised or lowered with less effort than it takes to stand up.
Keyboard Trays and Monitor Arms
Feeling pain or stiffness in the neck, back or wrist at the end of the day might be all too common, but using your workstation shouldn’t be a balancing act between being productive and comfortable. A monitor arm will make it easy to position your monitor at exactly the right height and distance so that you can easily view the screen without leaning in, straining your neck or squinting.
Keyboard trays ensure that you are able to maintain proper seated posture by lowering your keyboard and mouse below the level of your work surface so that they are in a more comfortable position above your lap.
Ensuring that workstations have the appropriate light levels for the type of work being performed is often overlooked but can lead to significant productivity gains when properly followed. Our eyes require less light when viewing a back-lit computer monitor than when reading paper documents, and having lighting that’s only appropriate for one or the other can often lead to headaches, eye strain, and fatigue.
Ergonomic task lights allow a user to direct focused light onto papers without needing to increase the overall lighting in their workspace, allowing for comfortable viewing of their computer monitor. It is strongly recommended that anyone who uses papers on a daily basis use a task light.
