One of Four Core Values

Community

One of the very first things that attracted me to Office Interiors as a place to work was the binder of letters that I found at Reception.  The letters were from various charitable and not-for-profit organizations – large and small – thanking Office Interiors for the donation of product, time or financial support.  My immediate thought, as I turned page after page, was that this was a place that understood the importance of giving back to the community, and was doing so in a fairly quiet and unassuming way.  I was understandably impressed, and I knew that I wanted to become a part of it.  Luckily for me, I was able to get my foot in the door via a three-month contract, which thankfully ‘morphed’ into a fifteen-year career.

Over these fifteen years at Office Interiors, I’ve found that we live and hold dear our core value of supporting the communities where we work and live.  I know that there are some organizations which state values more for the optics than for the actual meaning behind the words and phrases; however, I am ‘pleased as punch’ and ‘over the moon’ at the fact that Office Interiors is not one of them.  In the past fifteen years, I’ve volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Bryony House and Junior Achievement, just to name a few, and all of it on company time.  The best part is that it was always encouraged and never met with any sort of push-back.

I haven’t had an opportunity to flip through the pages of the binder in recent years, but I know that it will continue to be filled with letters of thanks based on contributions made by everyone at Office Interiors, and for that fact I am thankful myself.
