This is the time of year when graduations occur, when high school seniors make plans for their future. With my eldest daughter graduating from the Cobequid Education Centre in Truro this week I am immersed in the pomp and pageantry that goes along with the celebrations of educational successes. Students will be recognized for successfully completing the first 12 years of their formal education, and rightly so.
The one truism in life that I have held dear since my own high school graduation (too many years ago to admit to) is that education and learning are life-long processes and not single one-time events. There is not a day that goes by that I am not learning something, either some type of knowledge or a skill. It is this trait that my daughter has picked up from me that I am most proud, she is always learning and is always enjoying it.
To all the graduates of 2013, congratulations, your years of hard work and study have now been recognized. The journey of learning is not over though, it only just beginning. By choosing to be a life-long learner you will be choosing a path to continued success regardless of what school or career you choose!
